West Conshohocken-Based Hirtle Callaghan Fund Raises $181.3M - CBL

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN -- Hirtle Callaghan Absolute Return Offshore Fund II Ltd. has raised $181.25 million through an offering of pooled investment fund interests, according to a Reg D filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Principals named in the filing are Jonathan Hirtle and Robert Zion, both directors of the hedge fund, which is part of West Conshohocken-based investment firm Hirtle Callaghan & Co. LLC. Jonathan Hirtle is co-founder and CEO of Hirtle Callaghan, while Zion is COO.
Hirtle Callaghan has $17 billion under direct supervision.

Jon Hirtle founded Hirtle Callaghan in 1988. Prior to founding Hirtle Callaghan, he spent six years with Goldman Sachs and seven years in the United States Marine Corps. An avid outdoorsmen, Jon's interest in conservation was inspired early in life by the writings of Aldo Leopold and Rachel Carson (who was born in Springdale, Pennsylvania, Jon's hometown). Jon has been traveling and working in the Yellowstone region since 1969 and he spends several months each year in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Robert Zion

A principal of Hirtle Callaghan since 1997, Rob Zion joined the firm in 1991 and has been instrumental in leading its dramatic growth to over $12 billion in assets under direct management. Prior to joining Hirtle Callaghan, Mr. Zion served as a senior manager at Coopers & Lybrand, an international accounting and consulting firm. He earned a B.S. from the University of Delaware in 1983 and is a Certified Public Accountant.
