Move continues firm's strategic expansion in Washington and increases depth and breadth of investment management practice
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ruth Epstein, a leading securities and investment management lawyer, has joined Stradley Ronon in its Washington office. Epstein was previously a partner in the financial services and investment management group at Dechert, LLP. She is the fifth lawyer from a top 100 firm to join Stradley Ronon's Washington office in the past 12 months.
Epstein has more than 30 years of corporate, securities and financial services experience. She focuses on complex issues faced by participants in the investment management and variable insurance products industries. Following a federal clerkship with the Hon. William Wayne Justice, Ms. Epstein started her career at the Securities and Exchange Commission, first in the Division of Enforcement and then in the General Counsel's Office. She has been in private practice in Washington since 1984.
Stradley Ronon's investment management practice has earned national recognition for the range and breadth of its representation of investment company clients - with more than 700 separate funds and assets under management exceeding $1 trillion - including several of the largest investment company complexes in the country. The practice has increased its attorney count from seven attorneys in 1994 to 44 attorneys today - all of whom are exclusively dedicated to serving investment management clients.
"Ruth's reputation as a leading lawyer in the funds industry precedes her," said Stradley Ronon Chairman William R. Sasso. "Her experience further strengthens our nationally recognized investment management practice and expands our financial services capabilities."
"We are thrilled to welcome a partner of Ruth's caliber to our growing '40 Act practice," said Stradley Ronon Investment Management/Mutual Funds Chair Bruce G. Leto. "She is a recognized thought leader in the investment management legal community and will be a tremendous asset for both our clients and partners."
"I have had tremendous respect for Stradley Ronon's investment management practice for years," said Epstein. "The group has long been well known for the quality and sophistication of its lawyers and its commitment to high value client service. Now, after having started to work with this group, I am more impressed than ever, and very excited about what we can accomplish together."
Epstein received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and her B.A., with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, from Cornell University. She currently serves as co-chair of the American Bar Association's Sub-Committee on Securities Activities of Insurance Companies.
